The position

As of now, we are seeking a talented Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) Modelling Researcher to join our Vienna Discovery Research Team for cancer research. In your role, you will shape decisions regarding what drugs, modes of actions and dosage regimens are best suited for achieving the desired therapeutic effect to help cancer patients. We seek for an open-minded, constant learner personality with experience in PK/PD modelling who is stimulated by an inter-disciplinary global scientific environment in one of the world’s most liveable cities.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will perform high-quality PK/PD modelling and simulation analyses to support research projects by contributing to informative study designs of preclinical PK and/or PD experiments, by performing high-quality human PK and dose predictions and by contributing to strategies to better understand the PK/PD relations of our candidate drugs.
  • Identification of modelling opportunities together with Boehringer’s cancer research project teams in Austria, Germany, and US.
  • Interworking with Boehringer’s research lab heads, (preclinical) modelling scientists across therapeutic areas, experimental lab scientists and translational medicine researchers for model establishment, model parametrization, model training and model interpretation to transform modelling into actionable hypotheses for research project teams.
  • Being an advocate for PK/PD-informed decision making, also to understand implications of signal transduction and pharmacometric analyses within cancer research (researchers, project teams, management).
  • As Principal Scientist, you will coach and support the development of (junior) research scientists across therapeutic areas.
  • As Principal Scientist and depending on your experience, you might additionally represent and coordinate Research DMPK disciplines in international Research Project Teams. This includes establishing and maintaining external collaborations and supporting licensing activities.

Requirements

  • PhD in PK/PD modelling or any related scientific field (such as applied mathematics, systems biology, computational biology,…) with practical experience in ODE-based modelling. Experienced professionals with a master’s degree in above area and significant practical experience in PK/PD Modelling are also considered.
  • Solid skills in one relevant programming language (R, Python, MATLAB) are a must.
  • Industry experience, experience in the preclinical PKPD field, or experience in oncology are considered beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Excellent English communication skills are required.
  • Experience in working in and leading matrix-style project teams is considered beneficial
