The following position will be filled at the Department of Media and Communications at the Faculty of Social Sciences, starting as soon as possible:

Senior Lecturer with Doctorate (f/m/d)

Extent of employment: 100 % (40 hours/week)
Minimum wage: € 70,200.20 per annum (gross) on the basis of 40 hours per week; Classification according to Uni-KV: B1 lit. b
Limited to: 3 years

Your responsibilities – what awaits you:

  • Independent teaching of courses, especially within the English-language Bachelor's programme "Digital Media, Culture, & Communication (DMC2)" with a teaching load of 14 hours per week per semester
  • Continuous supervision of and support for students
  • Independent (teaching-related) research
  • Participation in and administration of exams (incl. Master's exams)
  • Supervision of scientific theses
  • Participation in the (further) development of teaching content, teaching materials, and e-learning offers as well as teaching-related research projects
  • Participation in organisational and administrative tasks of the department and quality assurance measures

Your profile:

  • Completed doctoral studies in media and/or communication studies (or in a relevant subject context such as digital media or digital methods) at a domestic or foreign university
  • Thematic focus in the field of Digital Media, Culture, & Communication
  • Relevant university teaching experience in the field of media and/or communication studies or subject-related context (also in English)
  • Very good knowledge of English (at least C1)
  • Good knowledge of German (at least B2), with the willingness to develop it further

This distinguishes you additionally:

  • Very good teaching skills
  • Very good knowledge of scientific work
  • Very good methodological knowledge, especially in the field of digital and/or qualitative methods
  • Communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • High motivation and initiative
