Unwired Networks GmbH
DevOps · Vienna, Headquarter · Hybrid
Technical Product Owner & Project Lead (f/m/d)
Location: Vienna · Employment: Full-time · Salary: € 70.000–90.000 gross/year · Start: ASAP
Why
We just won a major tender for our Unwired Edge Cloud and we’re looking for the person to own it.
The Unwired Edge Cloud is a single, hardware-agnostic platform that solves the networking challenges of public transport. It orchestrates edge devices, networks, and applications in the cloud: device management, fast passenger Wi-Fi setup, flexible container virtualization, and secure, continuous vehicle-to-ground connectivity. In short, we bring modern network management and edge computing directly into vehicles.
You’ll own this new engagement end-to-end: the customer relationship on the outside, product and delivery on the inside. Short decision paths, real ownership, and a strong engineering team behind you.
What you’ll do
- Act as the structured, customer-facing Project Lead: own contract scope, budget, requirements and timelines, run customer meetings and reporting
- Act as Product Owner internally: translate customer needs into user stories, build and prioritize the backlog, maximize delivered value
- Coordinate delivery with the team leads in Delivery and DevOps; facilitate technical discussions and scope decisions (the technical leads make the architecture calls – you make sure the right things get built in the right order)
- Help us keep improving how we work across product and delivery
Must-haves
- Proven experience as a Product Owner, Technical PM, or Project Lead in a software/cloud environment
- Strong project leadership: comfortable owning budget, timeline and contract scope toward customers
- Excellent stakeholder management and customer-facing communication
- Solid conceptual understanding of cloud-native infrastructure: Kubernetes ecosystem, Linux, networking fundamentals – enough to lead technical discussions, scope work credibly and translate between customers and engineers (you won’t configure clusters yourself, but you need to genuinely understand them)
- Degree in CS/IT or equivalent hands-on background
- Excellent German and English, written and spoken
Nice-to-haves
- Hands-on background in software development, CI/CD or secure development
- Experience in DevOps/edge/telco or transport/mobility domains
What we offer
- End-to-end ownership of a flagship engagement, with real influence on product and process
- A unique mix of product development, customer projects, and research initiatives
- Close collaboration with an experienced Development & Operations team and international customers
- A collegial, international team that’s small enough to matter (25 people)
- Hybrid/remote flexibility, flat hierarchies, short decision paths, and plenty of room for your ideas
- Annual public transport pass for all of Vienna
- Home internet connection covered, including private use
- Company phone and a top-of-the-line laptop
- Regular after-work and company events – on us 🙂
